Since 1909, colorful sails, sunshine, and plenty of water-sports action are on the agenda for the Internationale Bodenseewoche—a festival sure to please boat- and water-sports lovers of all ages. For four days, thousands flock to the shores of beautiful Lake Constance in the town of Konstanz to watch the colorful activities along the harbor, action-packed water shows, interesting exhibitions of water sports and boats, as well as captivating sailing regattas and rowing competitions involving more than 160 classic and modern sailing yachts. Noble mahogany yachts, sports boats, and high-tech carbon racers represent yachting from over a century. The races are held on five regatta courses in the funnel-shaped bay between Germany and Switzerland.
Sailing enthusiasts can look forward to watching a variety of different elegant yachts, from classic to modern, on a large screen at the harbor square, from spectator ships, or from land. A highlight of the day is the evening arrival of the yachts after the races. The terrace of the IBW lounge offers the best view to greet the crews in the harbor with a cool drink, and the promenade invites visitors to stroll through the maritime market with many fine culinary specialties.
A Ferris wheel, carousel, puppet theater, art, music in the IBW lounge, harbor concerts, dance shows, and many other highlights will complete the multifaceted program. The town of Konstanz can easily be reached by bus, train, boat, and car, but it is highly recommended that you come by public transport or make use of the park & ride parking lots set up for the festival. Visit their website for a detailed schedule of events and shows.
