Martin Kohlstedt connects worlds. The outstanding composer, pianist, and producer shows how and where classical piano, ambient field recordings, and score design touch and overlap. He intuitively finds a common form for the influences from different genres and uses it to create living sound bodies. These can take different forms—spectacular festival shows, introspective piano concerts, multidimensional film soundtracks, or immersive album experiences. Kohlstedt’s pieces are constantly in motion and do not follow any set pattern, even in concert. It goes without saying that improvisation is a central element. This concept is well received not only by the renowned partners with whom he collaborates, but also by critics. The tension created by Kohlstedt is “like a bow that is stretched to the point of unbearable resistance.
