Martinů Festival — Movie: “The Greek Passion”
Since 1995, the pianist Robert Kolinsky together with his team endeavors to bring renowned artists to Basel for an annual classical music festival to popularize the works of Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů. The festival, which is regarded by the media as “the smallest but finest of its kind,” this year includes four concerts and one movie.
On this evening, they will be showing the live recording from this year's Salzburger Festspiele of Martinů's opera "The Greek Passion" in a production with the Wiener Philharmoniker as well as several choirs and soloists under the baton of Maxime Pascal and directed by Simon Stone. The production impresses with its staging, the excellent singers and orchestra, and Martinů's incredibly moving and expressive music. Following the movie there will be a talk with the director.
