Martinů Festival — Puppet Opera “Boža, die Maus im Reich der Puppen”

The Martinu Festtage in Basel is an annual festival honoring the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů (1890–1959), who died in Liestal. Since 1995, the festival has presented a diverse program that includes not only classical concerts but also contemporary music, jazz, films, dance performances, and family concerts. It is known for its meticulous programming and first-rate artists. This year, the festival, which is regarded by the media as “the smallest but finest of its kind,” will include three concerts, a puppet opera, and one film.
Opera Diversa’s marionette opera is a work for children and adults, inspired by Martinů’s *The Marionettes.* Boža the mouse finds herself in the world of marionettes, where she experiences love and conflict and is accused of "ballet treason." Ultimately, through courage and self-sacrifice, she gains friendship and learns that a good heart can overcome any obstacle.
Tickets are CHF 15 for adults and CHF 5 for children.
