It's also your museum! Every Wednesday evening, the Kunstmuseum Basel makes room for your ideas. Would you like to upcycle your clothes? Would you like to try out virtual reality or screen printing? Or would you like to use the museum as a space for your own creative project? Here you can experiment, help design and exchange ideas with others. Each month, they are having a different theme.
In May, the theme is "color fields." Inspired by the exhibition on "Helen Frankenthaler", they will be experimenting with color field painting. Like the American pioneer of abstract painting, they will be setting aside concrete motifs and traditional brushes and emptying, pouring, or spraying paint directly onto various large-format textiles.
The theme for June is "contrasts." Do opposites attract? In the collection, they will explore and discuss surprising compositions and daring combinations together. Afterward, they will experiment in the studio with variations in colors, materials, compositions, and themes. How can one create tension? What elements can complement each other, and what remains irreconcilably at odds?
Mitmach-Mittwoch events are for young people ages 14 and up. Participation is free, and no registration is required.
