Mondrian Ensemble — Signs, Games, and Messages

This concert is dedicated to three giants of music history: Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and György Kurtág, who has now turned 100. The program is rounded out by Friedrich Cerha’s “Bagatelles,” thereby also paying tribute to one of the key figures of the 20th century.
The string trio is among the most demanding chamber music ensembles: three voices, no doubling, complete transparency. Yet it is precisely this challenge that makes the ensemble unique and creates an immediacy of sound that is rarely found in larger ensembles. In this program, the Mondrian Ensemble juxtaposes four works that impressively demonstrate how differently composers from all eras have responded to the concentrated power of this medium.
Tickets are CHF 20-35 for adults and CHF 10 for students.
