Motettenchor Region Basel — Jukebox

Landgasthof Riehen
Sunday, 16 February
16:30

Over the past 25 years, the Motettenchor Region Basel have explored so-called "classical" or "serious" music in all its facets with Ambros Ott. On this evening, they will be celebrating the farewell of their conductor with a smile and without too much gravity. They will be singing a selection of their favorite songs from the inexhaustible repertoire of evergreens, jazz, pop, and chanson.
Just as Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms are part of the world's musical heritage, so too are the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Edith Piaf, Charlie Chaplin, and Louis Armstrong walking in the realms of musical immortality. Their songs will be heard in sophisticated arrangements and with the professional and enthusiastic support of the Moody Tunes ensemble. This last joint project is intended to show the Motettenchor Region Basel and its departing conductor from a completely new, unusual side. And although there may be a touch of nostalgia here and there when reveling in the melodies from times gone by, the program should above all have a hopeful and forward-looking character and thus show the choir the way to an open, but inspiring and lively future. This is in the spirit of the beautiful words of Louis Armstrong: “I hear babies cry, I see them grow; they'll learn much more than I'll ever know. And I say to myself: what a wonderful world!”
Tickets are CHF 40 for adults and CHF 20 for students.
