The city of Muttenz will host its 14th marathon in mid-March—the Muttenz Marathon. The marathon involves two rounds on a 21-km route through the town and surrounding forested area, with an altitude difference of 500 m for each round. Additional race categories include a half-marathon (one 21-km round), a 10-km spring run, a 10-km (Nordic) Walking, a 4.7-km MuMa Sprint (one flat lap of 4.7 km), a 1.5-km youth run, and a 0.8-km kids’ run. There are different age categories for the various runs. All runs start and end at the Schulhaus Margelacker in Muttenz, which can be reached by tram 14 (stop called “Käppeli” + 400 m walk); there is also parking near the Sportplatz Margelacker.
The three fastest women and men in each category will receive a prize and all participants will receive a finisher medal. There will be plenty of refreshments offered by the sponsors along the route, as well as a grill, drink, and cake stand on the festival grounds.
You can register online for the runs until March 8; cost is CHF 75 for the marathon, CHF 55 for the half-marathon, CHF 30 for the 10-km spring race, CHF 25 for the 10-km Nordic Walking, CHF 20 for the 4.7-km MuMa Sprint, CHF 8 for the youth run, and CHF 5 for the kids’ run. On-the-spot registration is also possible (up until 30 minutes before the respective run) for an additional CHF 5-10.
