With powerful rock songs and dreamy ballads, Nazareth have made a name for themselves worldwide over the past 58 years. Since the end of 2025, a Swiss frontman has breathed new life into the veteran band: Gianni Pontillo from Basel is the new voice of the Scottish rockers. He is looking forward to a highly emotional hometown gig at the Pratteln rock temple.
Founded in 1968 in the Scottish town of Dunfermline, Nazareth, belong to the first generation of hard rock and heavy metal in music history. With nearly 60 million records sold worldwide, Nazareth, alongside Simple Minds, is Scotland's most internationally successful band. Since last December, Gianni Pontillo has been at the helm. The Basel native has made a name for himself over the past 30 years with bands such as Pure Inc., The Order, Fun Halen, Pontillo & The Vintage Crew, and most recently, the German heavy rockers Victory. Now, Nazareth marks the next step in his career. Bassist Pete Agnew, the last remaining original member of the rock institution, first contacted Pontillo at the end of 2025. Since then, Nazareth have already played several concerts with Pontillo, and the newcomer is feeling right at home in his new role and having a great time interpreting Nazareth's timeless classics.
