In cities all over Switzerland, the charitable organization Caritas is organizing a candle-lighting ceremony called “Eine Million Sterne.” In Basel, this year’s edition will take place on Münsterplatz, starting at 17:00. Lighting of candles together and open exchange will take place from 17:00-19:00. Thousands of candles will be lit, and donations to help any of Caritas’ numerous causes will be accepted (voluntary). Each candle is a sign of your solidarity with those affected by poverty in Switzerland. This is a beautiful sight to see, especially as night sets in!
