In cities all over Switzerland, the charitable organization Caritas is organizing a candle-lighting ceremony called “Eine Million Sterne.” In Basel, this year’s edition will take place in the courtyard of the Museum der Kulturen, starting at 17:00. There will be a welcome speech by Sabrina Corvini-Mohn, President of Caritas Basel, at 17:00, and Conradin Cramer, President of the Government Council of Basel-Stadt will speak at 17:20. Lighting of candles together and open exchange will take place from 17:00-19:00. Thousands of candles will be lit, and donations to help any of Caritas’ numerous causes will be accepted (voluntary). This is a beautiful sight to see, especially as night sets in!
