Open Classics on the Rhein — City Lights

After the enchanting summer night mood and sold-out concerts at the last four editions from 2022 to 2025, the classic open-air project will be entering the next round. There will be three concerts over two days on the idyllic Rhein Inseli, which can be reached from the Rheinbrücke between the two Rheinfelden.
To mark the 50th anniversary of Charlie Chaplin's death in December 1977, you can experience the 1931 silent film masterpiece on the big screen with live original music. "City Lights" is a tragicomedy in which Charlie Chaplin, as "The Tramp," embarks on adventurous escapades through urban landscapes. The Tramp falls in love with a blind flower girl, whom he helps to have an eye operation. After numerous twists and turns, in which the Tramp tries his hand at boxing, befriends an alcoholic millionaire, and is wrongly imprisoned, the two finally find each other. Chaplin is one of the most important comedians of the 20th century. As the film shines on the big screen, the 50-member City Light Symphony Orchestra plays Chaplin's film music in perfect sync.
There will be plenty of food and drink sales starting two hours before the concert, which will be moved inside the Bürgersaal Rheinfelden in case of bad weather.
Tickets are CHF 45-85; half price for students.
