Open Classics on the Rhein — Movie Classics: The Red Violin
After the enchanting summer night mood and sold-out concerts at the 2022 and 2023 editions, the new classic open-air project will be entering the next round. There will be three concerts over two days on the idyllic Rhein Inseli, which can be reached from the Rheinbrücke between the two Rheinfelden.
On this evening, the City Light Symphony Orchestra (Lucerne) under the baton of conductor Anthony Gabriele, will be playing the film music by John Corigliano, who won an Oscar in 2000. The live music will accompany the episodic film, “The Red Violin,” which tells an eventful and often tragic story spanning centuries about a violin and its owners, who are cast under its magical spell. A violin maker in 17th-century Italy is close to completing a perfect violin. When his beloved wife dies at the same time, he continues his life's work in sorrow and, as a sign of his love, creates an instrument that has a very special appeal. Anyone who has heard the violin once will be forever in love with it—to this day.
There will be plenty of food and drink sales starting 2 hours before the concert. Note that the concerts will be moved to the Bahnhofsaal in the event of bad weather.
Tickets are CHF 30 for adults and CHF 15 for students.
