Madrid is in turmoil. Barber Lamparilla has nothing to do with politics. But he's in love and becomes embroiled in an intrigue that reaches all the way to the Spanish royal family. A joyful game of cat and mouse with the authorities ensues, fueled by irresistible Spanish dance rhythms. In the classic zarzuela, which has yet to be discovered in German-speaking countries, social and political tensions erupt in folklore and humor. Christof Loy takes on the most famous work of this genre and brings it to the stage with a Spanish cast and in the original language. This Spanish operetta will be performed in Spanish with English and German surtitles.
