Pop-Up Cinema — Films for the Earth

Various Locations
Friday, 23 May

Together with dedicated co-organizers, the organization Filme für die Erde (Films for the Earth) will be showing the moving documentary “Fashion Reimagined” in numerous pop-up cinemas across Switzerland on this day. This film addresses the important topic of "sustainable fashion" and shines a spotlight on the history of clothing and people, animals, and resources involved in complex global supply chains, hoping to foster a greater appreciation for clothing. Fashion continues to contribute significantly and at an ever-increasing rate to climate change, microplastics in the ocean, deforestation, and landfills.
The documentary “Fashion Reimagined” is the inspiring and personal portrait of a young woman who wants to change the fashion industry. Amy Powney is a rising star in the London fashion scene. When she wins a prestigious award, she decides to use the prize money to design a sustainable collection from field to finished garment—a task that turns out to be complex and not entirely easy. Director Becky Hutner accompanies Powney on the long, convoluted, and emotional odyssey in which all supply chains must be checked and traced in order to offer a sustainable and ethically produced clothing collection.
The multiple award-winning film will be presented in English with German subtitles at multiple locations throughout Basel on the evening of May 23: check the website for locations and times.
