Together with dedicated co-organizers, the organization Filme für die Erde (Films for the Earth) will be showing the moving documentary “Six Inches of Soil” in numerous pop-up cinemas across Switzerland from May 29-31, 2025. The film tells the inspiring story of young British farmers who are standing up against the industrial food system and strengthening soils, health, and local communities through regenerative agriculture.
Director Colin Ramsay follows three people at a turning point in their lives: Anna Jackson, an 11th generation farmer on a arable and sheep farm in Lincolnshire; Adrienne Gordon, who grows a variety of vegetables on a few hectares in Cambridgeshire; and Ben Thomas, who raises grass-fed cattle in Cornwall and wants to work with natural processes rather than replace them.
The film combines personal stories with knowledge about agro-ecology and shows how agriculture not only produces food but also shapes the future. “Six Inches of Soil” makes it clear that change is possible when people work responsibly with the earth and invites you to rediscover the soil beneath your feet.
In this region, the film will be presented in English with German subtitles at multiple locations in Basel, Birsfelden, Rheinfelden, and Therwil on May 29-31; check the website for locations and times (https://pop-up.filmefuerdieerde.org/#standorte).
