Project Agora 2026

PROJECT AGORA is a post-genre festival founded in Basel that is supported by the Verein Project Agora. Now in its fifth edition from April 17-19, the festival represents a new Basel platform that has been conceived to create a dialogue between people of all ages, backgrounds, and preferences through music and to broaden their perception by offering new sound experiences and bringing new acoustic experiences to life. PROJECT AGORA is a space in which the boundaries between different styles of music blur, creating new blends. New colors emerge for which we do not yet know names. They invite established as well as up-and-coming representatives of different genres and cultures to collaborate over a longer period of time and to create new works for the festival. The team of PROJECT AGORA aims to curate interesting encounters between artists that would not otherwise arise, and to connect Swiss musicians nationally and internationally. Each evening includes two or more performances.
Giovanna Pessi Duo X Éna Vera at 17:00: The Swiss harpist Giovanna Pessi is among the most distinguished interpreters of early music and contemporary works for historical harps and explores new sonic realms for the Baroque harp. For this concert, Giovanna Pessi and Marco Ambrosini reunite as a long-standing duo. Ambrosini is one of the leading virtuosos of the nyckelharpa. They are joined by Éna Vera, an emerging singer of French-Spanish descent whose repertoire spans early music, folk songs, and contemporary expression. With her clear voice and a quest to forge new connections between tradition and modernity, she works on interdisciplinary projects, drawing on influences from Mediterranean folklore as well as classical vocal training.
Aino Salto X 3YOONI at 19:00: Aino Salto, born in France, raised in Leipzig, and now living in Bern, is a versatile musician whose project draws its musical inspiration from flugelhorn, double bass, keyboards, drums, and a voice that oscillates between delicacy and eruptive power. Together with experienced collaborators, Aino Salto creates music full of energy, sincerity, and individuality. Her aim is to craft songs that, despite all crises, do not give in to despair but convey hope and vitality. She is paired with 3YOONI, the project of Yassin Mahdi who was born in Baghdad. Due to the war, his parents fled Iraq with him and his younger sister, eventually arriving in Switzerland. There, as a person of color, he experienced othering. It is therefore no surprise that 3YOONI critically examines concepts such as identity, language, racism, and Orientalism. Musically, electronic beats and synthesizers meet traditional Arabic rhythms, the oud, and dreamy vocals in Iraqi Arabic.
Advance tickets are CHF 23-32 for single evenings (CHF 26-35 at the door), or CHF 50 for a festival pass, which includes all concerts on all three evenings.
