Puppet Theater — 80 Years of Basler Marionetten Theater

Basler Marionetten Theater
20:00 (Oct. 7, 13, 14, 20) | 17:00 (Oct. 8, 15, 22)

In this journey through the world of marionette theater to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Baseler Marionettentheater, entitled “Szenensprünge” (Scene jumps), you can see over 50 different figures from different eras from Richard Koelner, Christian Schuppli to Wolfgang Burn and Madeleine Burn-Kaufmann. The journey begins with the clever peasant Hanswurst from the play "Faust," who discovers a mystical book during a visit to the scholar's study. A strange thing soon happens—Hanswurst disappears and is drawn into a whirlpool of strange encounters with other characters.
Nicole Rutschmann has meticulously put together 24 scenes from over 70 playable pieces. An experience that amazes with the great variety on the small stage. This special 80-anniversary presentation will be played with different types of characters in both dialect and high German. It will last 130 minutes, including break.
Tickets are CHF 40 /CHF 30 for students and go on sale on September 9 at their online shop, Bider & Tanner, and Ticketcorner.
