Riverboat Trials

With the Rhein running through Basel, it is no surprise that there are many boating clubs in the region that offer different types of rowing activities. The Rhein-Club Basel employs the traditional-style riverboats called Weidlinge, whose crews consist of several stand-up paddlers as well as one person who uses a long wooden rod with a forked metal end to navigate the boats over the rocky river bottom. If you have ever been curious about these boats and would like to give it a try, the Rhein-Club Basel is hosting a free trial (Schnuppertraining) for people ages 7-70 on this evening. You just need to bring sports clothes and (if available) knee protectors. Meeting place is at the boat house at Klingentalgraben 4-6 in Basel (near Kaserne); please register at schnuppertraining@rcbasel.ch.
