“ROOTS” in Cinema

In collaboration with the exhibition “ROOTS,” held at the Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger, this film, which resurrects Walter Spies as a spectral presence navigating Bali's modern landscape, will be shown at the KultKino Basel.
Through encounters with Balinese artists and luminaries, the ghost of Spies grapples with his own legacy and the enduring impact of Western civilization on the island. After the film, a short discussion with protagonists Dewa Ayu Eka Putri and Putu Tangkas Adi Hiranmayena will take place in English.
