The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden (Saxony State Orchestra Dresden), founded in 1548 by Elector Maurice of Saxony, is one of the oldest and most prestigious orchestras in the world. Based in Germany, it serves as the resident orchestra for the Semper Oper Dresden opera house. On this evening, they will be playing Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major, op. 61, and Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D major op. 73. Soloist on this evening is German violinist Augustin Hadelich.
