Santrofi was founded in 2019 by a group of dedicated young musicians united by a shared love for the music they grew up with: Highlife. Led by charismatic producer and bassist Emmanuel Kwadwo Ofori, this supergroup brings together eight of Accra's most talented musicians, who share a passion for classic Highlife grooves and a hip-hop sensibility. The members have played in the bands of numerous Ghanaian artists, including Ebo Taylor, Pat Thomas, Ambolley, AK Yeboah, and Highlife pioneer AB Crentsil, with whom they recorded shortly before his death. They have also collaborated with many others of Ghana's popular new stars and established names.
Following Santrofi, things will heat up under the dome, as the three-party series Rumba Boxx, Do The Beng Beng, and Akiwawa finally join forces again for the Tropical Six Pack: DJs will be spinning tunes before and after the concert, with crackling Calypso, Mento, Reggae, Salsa, Highlife, Benga, Cumbia, Afrobeat, Forró, Biguine, Rumba, Soukouss, and more. DJs from Central/South America, the Caribbean, and the African continent will be playing both familiar and obscure tracks.
