As part of their partnership, the Sinfonieorchester Basel and Theater Basel are ringing in the New Year with swinging rhythms! The groove is provided by Duke Ellington's jazzy reinterpretation of Tchaikovsky's “Nutcracker Suite”—a tribute to the new production of the ballet classic in December. Conductor Robert Emery has also included excerpts from Gershwin's “Porgy and Bess” alongside rousing pieces by Bernstein and Barber.
