It is 200 years old and yet has remained eternally young—when people talk about “the Ninth,” they are usually still referring to Beethoven's impressive last symphonic work. The last movement with the chorus “Ode to Joy” has long since achieved cult status. This work is so monumental that composers after Beethoven had difficulty even daring to write their own number nine. Under the direction of Ivor Bolton, the Basel Symphony Orchestra with soloists from the Theater Basel will perform Beethoven’s powerful Ninth to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Stadtcasino Basel.
Tickets are CHF 55-125 for adults and half-price for youths and students on December 31, and CHF 30-125 for adults and 20 for youths up to age 16 and students up to age 30.
