The Sinfonieorchester Basel and Theater Basel are ringing in the New Year together with swinging rhythms as part of their partnership! “Summertime” is the name of the most famous hit from George Gershwin's opera “Porgy and Bess.” And we can always use a little summer, especially in the depths of winter. With a medley from Gershwin's opera, the Sinfonieorchester Basel and the Theater Basel Choir are setting the mood for spring and offering a preview of the symphony concert “Summertime” in April. This is preceded by fantastic music in the form of the overture to the magical opera “Ruslan and Lyudmila” by Mikhail Glinka. And of course, a little “Nutcracker” is a must at the turn of the year. The concert features a jazzy arrangement of the ballet’s music by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn.
Tickets are CHF 55-125 for adults and half-price for youths and students.
