It is nothing less than a meeting of legends—the saxophonist Bill Evans is on stage in Binningen with the band Spykillers as well as with Wolfgang Haffner, one of the most influential and versatile jazz drummers of our time. But that's not all: opera star Thomas Quasthoff is also part of the party. Together, the musicians offer a mixture of jazz, singing, humor, and improvisation at the highest level. The musical friendship between Evans, the Spykillers, and Quasthoff goes back a long way, but they still surprise and inspire each other on stage. "His vocal ability and his relationship with the audience are magical," Evans says of Quasthoff. “When Thomas agreed to be our guest, we were all absolutely thrilled.” Incidentally, it was Haffner who brought Quasthoff and Evans together for the first time a few years ago. The top-class program on this evening ranges from new compositions by the Spykillers to songs from pop, rock, and jazz.
