Stimmen Festival — Gerda Iguchi. Wesendonck Synthetic

Gemeindehaus Christuskirche Lörrach (D)
Friday, 10 July
19:00

The Stimmen (Voices) music festival has become the largest music event on the Upper Rhine, attracting an impressive array of international stars, soloists, and choirs, providing magical moments and musical experiences for young and old. From June 18 to July 11 this year, the festival will play a homage to the power and beauty of the human voice at various special venues in neighboring Germany.
"Wesendonck Synthetisch" presents Richard Wagner's famous songs from a completely new perspective. The German-Japanese mezzo-soprano Gerda Iguchi approaches the cycle not as a self-contained work, but as material with a strong connection to the present day. She combines the vocal lines with electronic synth and ambient sounds, thus opening a new sonic space. The texts by the writer and Wagner muse Mathilde Wesendonck remain the central element, but acquire a different, almost ethereal temporality. The concert transcends mere listening. Deliberately employed scents, created through incense, expand the space into a multifaceted experience. Sound, image, and atmosphere intertwine, casting the songs in a new light. Between intimacy and experimentation, an approach emerges that makes Wagner newly accessible.
Tickets are € 23.
