The Stimmen (Voices) music festival has become the largest music event on the Upper Rhine, attracting an impressive array of international stars, soloists, and choirs, providing magical moments and musical experiences for young and old. From June 18 to July 11 this year, the festival will play a homage to the power and beauty of the human voice at various special venues in neighboring Germany.
For the Thanda Choir from South Africa, music is a way to open doors and create a space for voices, ideas, and future plans. Founded in 2023, the choir works with young people from the Khayelitsha township, giving them the opportunity to discover and develop their musical and artistic talents. This fosters a community that embraces solidarity, strengthens self-confidence, and opens up new perspectives for young people. At its core is the conviction that music can transform. Through singing together, members learn discipline, teamwork, and responsibility. At the same time, creativity flourishes, and young voices are heard. Many of the participants discover their own potential for the first time. Musically, the Thanda Choir combines this energy with a warm, soulful choral sound that immediately resonates. The enthusiasm for making music together is palpable in every note, making their performances truly special.
