On this evening, Antonio Viñuales Pérez (violin and viola), Dmitry Smirnov (violin, viola, and cello), and David Eggert (cello and baryton) will perform Haydn’s Baryton Trio No. 97 in D major, Beethoven’s Serenade no. 2 in D major, op. 8, and Mozart’s Divertimento in E flat major, K. 563. As a young composer, Beethoven faced the challenge of escaping the shadow of Mozart and Haydn. Mozart's "Divertimento" undoubtedly provided a model for Beethoven's trio, although the lively minuet suggests that Beethoven would soon abandon courtly dance in favor of the energetic scherzo.
Tickets are CHF 30-75 for adults and CHF 15 for students (at the box office only).
