Studio Lemercier uses light as a central medium to transform spaces into immersive and poetic experiences. For years, the studio has investigated how light, projection, and digital technologies shape our perception of space and reality—from the opacity of the black box to the transparency of simple tools; from systems that conceal their internal logic to works that reveal their materiality, their effort, and their limits. In more recent projects, the focus has increasingly turned toward the ecological consequences of human activity and question of how art might open new perspectives on our relationship with the environment. The studio experiments with projections on unconventional surfaces, often addressing the impact of technology on people and nature, as well as ecological issues.
Through immersive installations combining light, water, and projections, alongside plotter drawings, Studio Lemercier transforms HEK into a space where reality is questioned. The exhibition “Thresholds – On the Values We Set and the Limits We Cross” brings together works that explore transitions: from technology to nature, the visible and the invisible, imagination and responsibility. Each work can be understood as a new threshold, a point at which perception shifts and alternative realities begin to emerge.
