Sylvie Courvoisier Solo

ISylvie Courvoisier is an internationally acclaimed pianist and composer from Lausanne who has lived in New York for many years. Her music moves between jazz, contemporary improvisation, and classical avant-garde. With her distinctive sound and political awareness, she is one of the most striking figures on the current music scene. She has been awarded the Grand Prix Music by the Federal Office of Culture for her work.
Courvoisier stands for an uncompromising artistic expression deeply rooted in improvisation. Whether in collaboration with longtime collaborators such as violinist Mark Feldman or composer John Zorn, or in her celebrated solo concerts, she always brings an enormous range of expressiveness and musical curiosity to the stage. Her playing is characterized by technical precision, spontaneity, and a strong sense of timbre and dynamics.
Her music arises from a direct dialogue with the world and indicates a profound engagement with social and political issues. At the same time, she remains open to new artistic perspectives and draws inspiration from figures such as Thelonious Monk, Olivier Messiaen, and Igor Stravinsky. This multifaceted approach is particularly evident in her solo concerts—an intense, immediate musical experience that goes far beyond mere virtuosity.
Tickets are CHF 33.10-69.80.
