Joe Sacco (*1960), the cartoonist and author known for his nuanced, critical, and eloquent graphic reportage, is returning to Basel. The Cartoonmuseum Basel dedicated a major retrospective of his original drawings to him in 2015. In conversation with comics expert and cultural studies scholar Christian Gasser, he discusses his current works: "India: Adding Fuel to the Fire," which addresses the erosion of democratic structures in India by the Hindu nationalist majority, and "Requiem for Gaza." In this powerful work, Chris Hedges and Joe Sacco present the accounts of displaced Palestinians.
