Originally, The Gathering had planned just two anniversary shows in August 2025 to celebrate “Mandylion’s” 30th birthday at Club Doornroosje in Nijmegen—the same 1,100-capacity venue where the double live album “TG25: Live at Doornroosje” was recorded 10 years earlier. Demand for tickets to these two exclusive nights featuring former singer Anneke van Giersbergen and original guitarist Jelmer Wiersma was overwhelming, leading to the announcement of three additional shows. All five concerts sold out in no time! As a result, further dates were added for 2026. To avoid any speculation, the band made it very clear from the start: this is not a reunion tour, but a limited number of special concerts celebrating the album’s 30th anniversary with the original line-up.
“Mandylion” was the first album recorded with van Giersbergen, who had joined the band a year earlier. With her arrival, the achieved their international breakthrough—reaching No. 20 in the Dutch charts; earning gold record status; and touring extensively across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. The rest is history. On the “Mandylion” 30th Anniversary Tour, the temporarily reunited line-up will perform the entire album, along with additional songs from the van Giersbergen era. Longtime fans can relive cherished memories, while a younger generation gets the rare chance to experience the atmosphere of a Gathering concert from the band’s formative years between 1994 and 2007.
