Have you noticed garbage on the streets of Basel? Whether it’s cigarette butts, candy wrappers, food containers, plastic waste, or empty water bottles and beer cans; whether it has been blown there by the wind or carelessly discarded—encountering trash in our daily environment is not only annoying but also a danger to the environment. Do you want to do something about it? Why not join a friendly group of like-minded people on one of the monthly organized clean-up sessions and become a Trash Hero!
On September 13, Trash Hero Basel is participating in the Trinational Cleanup—together and without borders! From Basel to Huningue and from Weil to Village-Neuf: Several dedicated groups will participate in this event and collect trash. Afterwards, there will be a joint meet-up with an apéro in Huningue.
In Basel, the Trash Heroes will meet at 13:30 at the Kaserne tram stop (#8 tram), near the benches in front of the Kaserne courtyard. As always, be sure to bring gloves and, if you prefer, a collecting tool (something like a clothespin or other type of clip can help grab cigarette butts); they will organize the rest.
If you're interested, you are also welcome to join the final meet-up in Huningue after the cleanup. Together, you will take the tram from the Kaserne (11 minutes) to the Dreiländerbrücke stop and walk from there across the footbridge into France. The waste collection groups from Germany, France, and Switzerland will gather there for a relaxed and fun get-together. There will be an apéro and a fun and engaging way to raise awareness about littering.
Everyone is invited to join in—there is no cost and no sign-up, just show up! The clean-ups are held in German but they also speak English and French and can explain in multiple languages. So why not gather some your friends, family, or kids and join this event.
