September 21, 2024, marks the premiere of the Triathlon Basel! This event, which combines swimming, cycling, and running, is perfectly suited for this beautiful city on the Rhein. In mid-late September, the Rhein usually has a pleasant water temperature of around 20 degrees, the cycling route is flat, and the running route in the heart of Basel guarantees numerous spectators who will push you to the finish line at the Dreirosenanlage. Whether you want to complete the full Olympic distance, share the disciplines with friends, or simply want to try combining the three elements in a smaller sprint distance, this event is for you.
Triathletes can register for the complete Olympic distance, which consists of a 3-km swim (downstream), 40 km cycling, and 10 km run. The cost for this category is CHF 140.
Maybe you would prefer to share the task with friends and colleagues? You enjoy a float down the Rhein, your boyfriend loves to jog, and your work colleague always rides his bike to work. Consider dividing the three disciplines and register for the Olympic Distance-Relay at a cost of CHF 220.
Not ready for the distances of the full triathlon? Sign up for the sprint triathlon and finish your first triathlon, without any pressure to perform. This sprint distances for this fun competition are 800 m swimming, 16 km cycling, and 5 km running; this category costs CHF 85.
The entry fee for all categories includes timekeeping, the start number, a swim cap, refreshments along the course and at the finish, medical care, massage at the finish, shuttle transport to the swim start, a personal certificate to download, a small finisher's gift and prizes for the first-place winners in each category.
Note that this event does not include categories for young people under age 16; stay tune for inclusion in future editions.
