Augusta Raurica is the site of the archeological ruins of a Roman settlement, located only 20 minutes outside of Basel. On this day, you can join in a creative workshop that will introduce the exciting medium of mosaics. Participants will learn about the significance of mosaics and wall paintings during a tour of the Roman House. Then, you will learn more about the process of mosaic making and construction before getting hands-on and creating your own miniature mosaic artworks in the style of the ancient Romans under the guidance of experts.
This workshop will be held in English and is ideally suited for persons ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult during the workshop. Meeting point is at the town model in front of the theater.
The workshop costs CHF 16 for adults and CHF 8 for children, which includes entry to the on-site museum.
