“The Shadow Needs Light” was once the expression of a personal journey—one into the darker aspects of one's own self. But now, Mira Lora's second EP resonates with the spirit of the times. Many shadows are becoming visible, even those of influential people who previously managed to conceal them so skillfully. Five songs with one call to action: to reconcile with one's own shadows. Because what happens on a small scale can only happen on a larger scale.
In "I'm Done," Lora, with her dreamy soundscapes and clarifying drum rituals, offers the courage to finally bring long-overdue tasks to a close. Freed from burdens, she opens the path to a new chapter in the driving track "Running." With the mystically vehement "Nyctophilia," which is at the heart of the EP, the uncanny shadows become visible, but so too does the inner strength to confront them. In "Roots," Lora reminds us with primal honesty that even in times of change, we are never alone and always carry our rich roots within us. And in "Little Sun," her enveloping voice, over Niklas Paschburg's ethereal piano sounds, paints a picture of the love that fills us when we have accepted our own shadows as part of our being.
After releasing her debut EP “Unleashed” in 2023, Lora finally returns to play her first headline show at Basel's iconic Atlantis club, accompanied by German-Korean percussionist Hyo Jin Shin.
Tickets are CHF 20 in advance and CHF 25 at the door; students receive a CHF 5 discount.
