The Daily Market at Marktplatz is Getting a New Look!

Since April 26, Basel’s largest fresh-produce market has become more modern and customer-friendly than ever—with over 40 stalls, a new food court, changing pop-up offers, and improved accessibility. The primary focus of the market will continue to be the wide range of fresh, high-quality products from the Basel region, including regional vegetables, fruit, cheese, flowers, mushrooms, sausages, honey, baked goods, tea, and much more. Almost 90 percent of the fruit and vegetables on offer at the market come from the immediate vicinity of Basel, which not only guarantees fresh, seasonal produce, but also short transport routes.

New vendors, such as the Birsmattehof organic farm, the Pasticceria Da Graziella, the Zuggerbegg Bubeck bakery, and the Löwebrot bakery, will broaden the selection. In addition to the little coffee zone, there will be a permanent food corner with seating to invite visitors to linger for a coffee break or a delicious lunch in the heart of the Marktplatz. Also new is a pop-up zone, where a variety of smaller vendors can present their specialties on a daily basis to make every visit a little different.

There are also two new passage ways through the market that allow customers to get around more easily from stall to stall for a more pleasant shopping experience.

The newly redesigned market will also have new opening hours. It will be open Tuesday to Friday from 8:00-14:00 and Saturdays from 8:00-16:00. Monday will continue to host the gourmet market, where visitors can enjoy culinary delights from 8:00-14:00.
