The Stimmen (Voices) music festival has become the largest music event on the Upper Rhine, attracting an impressive array of international stars, soloists, and choirs, providing magical moments and musical experiences for young and old. From June 18 to July 11 this year, the festival will play a homage to the power and beauty of the human voice at various special venues in neighboring Germany.
Latvian Voices are among the most exciting a cappella ensembles in Europe. At the heart of their work lies the connection between tradition and the present. Folk songs from Latvia and the Baltic states meet original compositions and sophisticated arrangements, many of them penned by artistic director Laura Jēkabsone. Their program "Timeless" spans a wide range: from Baltic folklore and sacred music to artfully arranged pop classics. Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Emīls Dārziņš, and contemporary choral pieces are featured alongside songs by Billy Joel, the Beatles, and Stevie Wonder. The result is a concert evening that makes cultural roots audible while seamlessly integrating them into the present. Latvian Voices perform in concert halls, churches, and at festivals worldwide; have served as musical ambassadors for the European Capital of Culture Riga; and regularly share their expertise through workshops and masterclasses.
Tickets are € 37.
