Stimmen Festival — Buechi / Hellmüller / Jerjen

The Stimmen (Voices) music festival has become the largest music event on the Upper Rhine, attracting an impressive array of international stars, soloists, and choirs, providing magical moments and musical experiences for young and old. From June 18 to July 11 this year, the festival will play a homage to the power and beauty of the human voice at various special venues in neighboring Germany.
Sarah Buechi has lived in Bangalore, Dublin, New York, and London; studied diverse musical languages; and developed a style that consistently defies categorization. Jazz, songwriting, global influences—it's all there. With her trio Buechi / Hellmüller / Jerjen and the project "Pink Mountain Sagas," she takes it a step further. The starting point is legends from her Swiss homeland, charged with images of landscape, memory, and inner conflict. The result is not a folkloric retrospective, but a sonic renegotiation of tradition. The instrumentation is deliberately chosen: guitar and bass support and open up the soundscape, complemented by the Schwyzerörgeli (Swiss accordion) and violin as defining voices of a young, experimental folk music. Interwoven into this structure are echoes of Buechi's international years to create a quiet but palpable dialogue between origin and experience.
Tickets € 29.
