On this evening, you can hear the "St. Matthew Passion" performed by an outstanding ensemble, led by the Swiss Bach Prize winner, tenor Raphael Höhn, as the Evangelist! This work is not only one of Bach's most important compositions, but one of the "world masterpieces" that should be listened to again and again, because each re-encounter reveals new details, crafted with the greatest inspiration and superb artistry. And the profound emotions it evokes become ever more overwhelming and lasting.
This performance features the La Cetra Barockorchester & Vokalensemble Basel under the direction of Andrea Marcon; soloists including Höhn, baritone Raoul Steffani as Jesus, soprano Miriam Feuersinger, altus Carlos Mena, tenor Ronan Caillet, and baritone Tobias Berndt; and the Mädchenkantorei Basel.
Tickets are CHF 30-90 for adults, half price for students, and CHF 10 for kids under age 12 accompanied by an adult.
