The Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is widely celebrated in Mexico. It is a festival of life-affirming joy and the love for deceased family members and friends. Together with the Asociación de Mexicanos y amigos de México en Basel (AMEX), you are invited to experience the colorful traditions of remembering the dead for yourself. Admire the flower-decorated Altar de Muertos (created by Pepe Villegas) and a procession of Catrinas with their traditional makeup. You can also enjoy Mexican specialties, and kids can look forward to craft workshops and a movie theater.
Entrance is free; food and drinks are extra, and costs for workshops is CHF 5.
