Following their celebrated stage comeback in the summer of 2025, prog-metal pioneers Savatage will return to Europe in 2026 with their "Prelude to Madness" tour, including a headlining concert at the Z7 Summer Nights Open Air, with special guests, the newly reformed Nevermore, featuring Jeff Loomis and Van Williams.
The concert promises an explosive setlist spanning the band's entire catalog, including classic anthems and deep cuts that underscore Savatage's deep appreciation for their legendary fanbase, aka The Legion. Savatage are considered one of the most influential bands in progressive metal. Over the course of their eventful career, the Tampa-based band has released 11 groundbreaking albums and played hundreds of concerts worldwide. With their unique blend of thrash, prog, power metal, and classic hard rock, they have had a lasting impact on heavy metal. Their innovative approach to concept albums and rock operas has influenced countless artists and earned them a loyal fan base around the globe. This passionate following tirelessly campaigned for the band’s return during their nearly two-decade-long touring hiatus, and in 2025, Savatage made international headlines again with their first headline shows since 2002. The European tour successfully united several generations and was a highly emotional experience for both old and new fans.
Guest act Nevermore are also making a comeback. Founding member Jeff Loomis (guitar) and longtime drummer Van Williams intend to revive the prog-metal legend with new bandmates. Formed in 1992 from the ashes of the band Sanctuary, Nevermore rose to the top of the metal scene between 1995 and 2010 with seven fantastic albums and a compelling stage presence. This summer, the newly formed prog/thrash metal band from Seattle will be joining Savatage for a top-notch summer night on Kraftwerkstrasse.
Tickets are CHF 75.
