Sophia Kennedy, born in Baltimore, USA, grew up in Germany and began writing her own plays early on. She moved to Hamburg and studied film at the University of Fine Arts (HfbK), from which she dropped out and turned to music. Together with Mense Reents (The Birds, Egoexpress, the Golden Lemons) she recorded her debut album, which was released in 2017 and received international recognition. In 2019, she released the experimental album “NOW” as part of the duo Shari Vari with Helena Ratka. In 2021, Kennedy's second album titled “Monsters” was released, which was awarded the 2022 VUT Prize in the "Best Album" category in 2022. In May 2025, her third album "Squeeze Me" will be released, on which the singer and her long-time musical collaborator and co-writer Mense Reents offer a more disillusioned commentary on the status quo.
