Sullivan Fortner Trio

New Orleans native Sullivan Fortner has been one of the most prominent jazz pianists of his generation for over a decade. The Grammy Award-winning artist, composer, and bandleader inspires audiences with his tonal depth, stylistic openness, and extraordinary improvisational skills. He gained international recognition as co-producer and pianist on “The Window” with Cécile McLorin Salvant and with his acclaimed solo album “Solo Game” (2024). He has been an artistic partner to jazz greats such as Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Fred Hersch, Roy Hargrove, and many more. With his combination of tradition and innovation, Caribbean influence and American jazz, Fortner once again underlines his exceptional status.
Fortner is joined by Tyrone Allen II on double bass and Kayvon Gordon on drums. Allen, who grew up in Temple Hills, Maryland, received his first musical training from his father. After studying at the Eastman School of Music and the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, he became a sought-after bassist in New York. He has played with jazz greats such as Ralph Peterson, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Gerald Clayton and is currently a permanent member of the Broadway orchestra of Moulin Rouge. Gordon, originally from Detroit, was mentored early on by trumpet legend Marcus Belgrave. He studied at the University of Michigan and has already shared the stage with artists such as Ravi Coltrane, JD Allen, and Robert Hurst. He combines modern sound aesthetics with Detroit's rich jazz tradition.
