Located approximately 1 hour from Basel, the Christmas market in Freiburg is probably the largest and prettiest German Christmas market in proximity to Basel. Spread out over seven locations in and around Freiburg's Old Town, the market offers a diverse and impressive experience for visitors of all ages. Exceptional handicrafts, culinary delights, the scent of pine trees, candlelight, numerous market stalls, and Christmas events for all ages await you. Whether on the Rathausplatz, the Kartoffelmarkt, Unterlindenplatz, Franziskanerstraße, Turmstraße, or Rotteckring—there's something for everyone to discover. Since 2021, Colombipark has also been part of the Christmas market. Here, visitors can take impressive souvenir photos at the photo point. Numerous light sources illuminate the city center, creating an unforgettable ambiance.
Open Monday-Saturday from 10:00-20:30 and Sunday from 11:30-19:30. On the first day, November 20, the market is open from 14:00-20:30 and from 10:00-19:30 on the last day, December 23. Note that the market will remain closed on Remembrance Day, November 23.
