Family Hanukkah Celebration at the MUKS

MUKS Museum Kultur & Spiel Riehen
Thursday, 18 December
18:00-20:00

The Jewish Festival of Lights, Hanukkah, commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in the 2nd century BC, after its destruction. The eight-day festival is celebrated primarily with family and friends—and for once, at the Museum Kultur & Spiel Riehen (MUKS), which, together with the Israelite Community of Basel (IGB), invites you to a celebration with candle-lighting, Hanukkah songs, sausages, and sufganiyot. In addition to information about the festival and anecdotes from the days of the Jewish retirement home La Charmille in that existed in Riehen from 1947 to 2002, the tables with games invite you to linger.
The celebration with Steffi Bollag (President of the IGB Basel), Peter Bollag, members of the synagogue choir and the IGB, and Miriam Cohn (head of education and outreach at the MUKS) is for Jewish and non-Jewish people of all ages. The event is free, but space is limited; registration is requested.
