The idea is as simple as it is charming: Music lovers take a 1-hour tour through Basel by tram and experience a small festival on wheels along the way. The Karaoke trams, which were a great success during the Eurovision contest weeks, will continue until the end of the year.
Approximately once per month, the Karaoke-Drämmli will run on a Saturday and Sunday evening, with three trips between 19:00 and 22:00; this month, they take place on September 26 and 27.
The ride starts at Aeschenplatz; arrive at the Aeschenplatz tram stop, platform L, at least 15 minutes before departure and present your valid ticket for inspection (you need to be on time as the karaoke tram can't wait for you). The audience sings along, warms up with dances, or cheers along with the singers. Those who want to do more than just listen can try their luck and prove themselves on the microphone. But even without a solo performance, the atmosphere is infectious. Between the lights, applause, and choruses, every ride becomes a mini-concert on rails. Note that inebriated persons will be denied boarding.
