The Thuner Wasserzauber (Thun Water Magic) is a symbiosis of music, light, and water. Weeks of studio work are spent editing and mastering the music, using captivating and inspiring pieces of music from classical, rock, pop, and even local songs. Colored light beams—created by spotlights, lasers, and moving head lights—highlight the water and give the performance a glittering effect, creating an unforgettable moment with intense emotion. A laser show combines modern technology with natural elements by projecting laser images and animations into the water, which is a key component of every show. Submersible pumps power the jet systems, spraying the water into the sky at heights of up to 30 meters in various fountains to match the music. In the evening, the water serves as a projection surface for lights, lasers, and video projections. For the Thun Water Magic, 12 million liters of water from the Aare River are used and returned without loss. Time-consuming research and meticulous fine-tuning ensure that the elements of the show and the music form a symbiosis that makes Thun's Water Magic an unforgettable experience.
The Thun Water Magic takes place in the Aare basin in front of the Freienhof Restaurant in Thun's city center. This special light and water show will take place daily from September 26 to October 26, regardless of weather conditions. Around the venue, there will be various food and drink stalls, inviting you to linger and socialize. In addition, various special combo offers ensure an unforgettable evening. The Freienhof Restaurant invites you to a three-course menu in the Aare Hall, with access to an exclusive terrace and a prime view of the water show. For a smaller number of guests, the Freienhof Restaurant on the ground floor is also available during the Water Magic.
There are two 20-minute shows each evening: “Jukebox” and “4 Seasons.” On Monday and Tuesday, "Jukebox" will be at 19:30 and "4 Seasons" at 21:15, and on Wednesday-Sunday, "4 Seasons" will be at 19:30 and "Jukebox" will be at 21:15.
Jukebox: Ready for a very special journey through time? This show takes you on a lively journey through music history, from the rocking 50s to the present day. With legendary sounds from Elvis Presley to Coldplay, nostalgia meets modern show technology for an unforgettable experience for all generations.
4 Seasons: Who doesn't dream of experiencing the magic of nature with all their senses? This musical journey takes you through spring, summer, fall, and winter, accompanied by harmonious, classical music. Picturesque sounds and atmospheric images blend into an experience for the heart and soul during this musical stroll through nature.
The show performance times are ideal for arriving and departing by train. The Thun train station is only a 5-minute walk from the Aare basin. Alternatively, you can arrive by car; there are nine paid parking garages and two large car parks in the vicinity.
You can also turn your visit into a day trip and plan other exciting activities in addition to visiting Thun's Water Magic. There are many places worth seeing, including the Mühleplatz and Rathausplatz, and the Bälliz shopping mile.
