Following great success in the British Isles and Ticino, the ensemble Anton Violinist & Friends now presents this extraordinary program in Basel. Vivaldi's masterpiece is performed in an innovative quartet arrangement (two violins, cello, and piano), which gains a completely new depth through a personal, narrative accompaniment. Come for an evening full of sound, character, and emotion with violinists Anton Jablokov and Enrico Filippo Maligno, pianist Adam Kuruc, and cellist Claude Hauri.
The unique appeal of this work, over 300 years old, lies not only in the extraordinary beauty of the music but also in the story behind it. With remarkable foresight, Vivaldi published “The Four Seasons” along with explanatory sonnets that vividly describe the different seasons: the awakening of nature in spring, the violent summer storm, the drunken shepherds after the autumn harvest, the person sitting by the fireplace listening to the rain in winter. During the concert, the ensemble guides the audience through this narrative, revealing how a deeper metaphor for life lies hidden behind the apparent sequence of nature and events. The second part of the concert is dedicated to popular European melodies, including” Hava Nagila,” “Bella Ciao,” and Hungarian Dances. These are works that the ensemble has already presented in the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, captivating audiences with their energy, virtuosity, and charisma.
