The outstanding Brazilian drummer Alex Kautz elegantly and sensitively blends jazz with the music of his heritage, captivating the listener with a highly precise, energetic, yet delicate touch. John Ellis on tenor sax seamlessly integrates his clear, intricate tone into the polyrhythmic texture, while guitarist Fabio Gouvêa impresses with nimble runs and lyrical improvisations. Matt Penman on bass provides a solid, yet never rigid, foundation for this small, multifaceted masterpiece with his smooth bass playing. The driving force of New York jazz mixes superbly with the complex, beautiful harmonies, creating a dazzling and enchanting soundscape, resulting in a subtle fusion of jazz and Brazilian music.
