At Home — On the Go. What Moves People

Dreiländermuseum Lörrach
Ongoing Event
Sat., 19 September until Sun., 18 April

Humans have been on the move for centuries. In doing so, they leave, relocate, or establish places they call home. They cross borders and begin new lives elsewhere. The history of the border region of Germany, France, and Switzerland is also marked by individual migration stories that tell of departure, flight, and expulsion, and arrival in the region. The reasons for migration are as diverse as the people behind the stories themselves. This exhibition offers an overview of the history and present-day realities of migration and, with around 200 exhibits and a comprehensive accompanying program, explores migration stories from Germany, Switzerland, and France.
"At Home — On the Go" is the overview exhibition of the project "At Home — On the Go. Here and Elsewhere" within the framework of the Museums Network 2026/27. A total of 26 exhibitions are planned in Germany, France, and Switzerland, involving 30 museums. Each museum contributes its own exhibition to the series. Coordination is handled by the Dreiländermuseum (Three Countries Museum), which supports the collaboration of the participating institutions.
More information about the cross-border exhibition series can be found in the Museums Network (https://www.dreilaendermuseum.eu/de/netzwerk-museen/nwm-projekt-2026-27-zuhause-unterwegs/).
