Project Agora 2026

PROJECT AGORA is a post-genre festival founded in Basel that is supported by the Verein Project Agora. Now in its fifth edition from April 17-19, the festival represents a new Basel platform that has been conceived to create a dialogue between people of all ages, backgrounds, and preferences through music and to broaden their perception by offering new sound experiences and bringing new acoustic experiences to life. PROJECT AGORA is a space in which the boundaries between different styles of music blur, creating new blends. New colors emerge for which we do not yet know names. They invite established as well as up-and-coming representatives of different genres and cultures to collaborate over a longer period of time and to create new works for the festival. The team of PROJECT AGORA aims to curate interesting encounters between artists that would not otherwise arise, and to connect Swiss musicians nationally and internationally. Each evening includes two or more performances.
Fabinho 44 at 20:00: Fabinho 44 is an electronic artist who shapes groove-driven music through rhythm and sonic textures. Rooted in Brazilian percussion culture and influenced by Berlin's electronic scene, his sound is deeply rhythmic and organic. With a background in jazz drums and a master's degree in music production, he translates the complexity of live percussion into electronic soundscapes, creating music that moves both body and mind.
Online $hopping X Hildegunn Øiseth at 20:45: Online $hopping is a young band from Basel, consisting of Dshamilja Kalt (guitar, vocals), Jakob Brutsche (guitar, vocals), Benjamin Jaton (bass), and Patrick Widmer (drums). Their sound moves freely between noise rock, grunge, and improvised music, characterized by high energy and a spirit of experimentation. They are paired with Hildegunn Øiseth, a Norwegian trumpeter and composer widely recognized as a defining voice in Scandinavian jazz. Her music blends lyrical trumpet playing with global influences, shaped by extensive international experience in Africa and Asia and collaborations with artists such as Bugge Wesseltoft and Mats Eilertsen.
District Five X Infinideaux at 22:15: District Five break through generational boundaries. Math rock, post-punk, jazz, electronica, and film music are the cornerstones of a new sound with which the four visionaries from Zürich leave rigid genre boundaries behind and begin to shape their own avant-garde. This music represents a process of searching for new freedoms, one that simultaneously exemplifies diversity and a long-standing friendship. They perform together with Infinideaux, a new Basel-based experimental electronic project by Cécile Meyer. Infinideaux produces chaotic music that oscillates between fearsome breakcore with metal screams and sparkling, sped-up pop melodies that shower listeners with a rainbow of emotions and leave them feeling that anything is possible in music.
Afterparty – JABY at 23:15: JABY is a Basel-based DJ who plays and blends a wide variety of Afrocentric music styles. From Gqom beats and Amapiano to Singeli from Dar es Salaam and Afro-Caribbean sounds like Shatta and Bouyon, she presents a selection of her favorite bass-heavy, groovy beats of African origin. She reimagines club music through the lens of the Black diaspora experience—for the diaspora, by the diaspora.
Advance tickets are CHF 23-32 for single evenings (CHF 26-35 at the door), or CHF 50 for a festival pass, which includes all concerts on all three evenings.
